The Sims Online - free to play

EA Land will now host the original The Sims Online content, bringing a slew of new features to the massively multiplayer online game. The team at Maxis is now allowing user created custom content, ushering in a new economy, and adding new web services and social networking tools. New Facebook apps and widgets are now available for anyone who wants to have their real life more depressingly connected to their Sim life.
What is EA-Land?
I would like to introduce you to EA-Land, a world that is free-to-play, and based on a re-engineered The Sims Online architecture. Yes, free.
If you played The Sims Online before, we have played together and I would like you to rejoin us in the game: My avatar is MaxisLuc (yes, I work for Maxis/EA). At the beginning of last year I assembled a team to improve The Sims Online. After months of ongoing hard work, we can say proudly that we have been successful and we have made this game fun again!
* Former Members Of The Sims Online: You can come back for FREE right now by just downloading the game and REACTIVATING your account. If you do so before March 2008, you will get your earned ‘account based’ privileges back (gifts, skill locks etc…) when we run our ‘amnesty’ program. So make sure you are in game before that event!

Update:
EA announced the game would shut-down all activity on August 1st, 2008.
The game was shut down on August 1, 2008 at 4:35AM PST Time.
The Official Blog went offline on August 9, 2008 at 12:00AM PST Time.

I LOVE the Sims!
I never really got into the online game. Now I’m all locked into Sims 2, and they just released a new expansion pack yesterday, so I’ll be playing that for awhile.
Good information though!

Hey There.
It looks a ton of fun, and I’ve downloaded the game from http://ea-land.ea.com/blog/
However, Once downloaded it asked me for an account name, so I put in my EA account info, and I belive it was asking for something else because there was an error.
Do you think you could tell me how to register myself for the Free sims online?
